Repairing and Restoring Your Smile

Oakview Dental Group provides comprehensive dental restoration services to repair damaged, decayed, or missing teeth. While preventative care is our priority, we understand that dental issues can occur despite best efforts. Our team combines modern technology with experienced care to restore your smile’s health, function, and appearance.

What Are Dental Restorations?

Dental restorations are treatments designed to repair or replace damaged or missing teeth. These procedures restore the normal function and appearance of your teeth while preventing further dental problems. Our restoration services range from simple fillings to more complex treatments like crowns, bridges, and root canals.

Our Dental Restoration Services
Fillings

Fillings are one of the most common dental restoration procedures. When plaque and tartar accumulate on your teeth, bacteria build up and create cavities. If left untreated, these cavities can lead to more serious dental problems.

During a filling procedure, we remove the decayed portion of your tooth and fill the cavity with a durable material. At Oakview Dental Group, we use tooth-colored porcelain composite fillings that blend naturally with your existing teeth. This means your fillings won’t be noticeable, maintaining the aesthetic appearance of your smile.

The filling procedure is relatively simple and typically completed in a single appointment. After numbing the area, we carefully remove the decay, clean the cavity, and fill it with the composite material. The result is a restored tooth that looks natural and functions properly.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown, sometimes called a “cap,” is used when a tooth has sustained significant damage that extends beyond what a filling can repair. Crowns are particularly useful for teeth that have already undergone previous dental work or have experienced extensive decay.

The crown procedure typically requires two visits. During the first visit, we prepare the tooth by removing any decay and shaping it to accommodate the crown. We then take an impression of your tooth, which is sent to our in-house dental laboratory. A temporary crown protects your tooth while the permanent crown is being fabricated. At your second visit, we remove the temporary crown and permanently cement your custom-made crown in place.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy becomes necessary when tooth decay or damage extends deep into the tooth, affecting the nerves and roots. Despite its reputation, modern root canal treatment is a straightforward procedure that relieves pain rather than causing it.

During root canal therapy, we remove the damaged or infected nerve tissue from inside the tooth. We then clean and seal the internal chambers of the tooth to prevent further infection. This process saves the tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge literally bridges the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Bridges are an effective solution when tooth loss has occurred due to decay, trauma, or extraction.

The bridge consists of artificial teeth (called pontics) that are held in place by crowns on the adjacent natural teeth. These supporting teeth, called abutment teeth, are prepared similarly to how they would be for individual crowns. The entire bridge assembly crowns and pontics is fabricated as a single unit.

Dental bridges offer several benefits: - They restore your ability to chew and speak properly - They maintain your face’s natural shape - They prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position - They distribute bite forces properly

Our In-House Dental Laboratory

One significant advantage of choosing Oakview Dental Group for your restoration needs is our in-house dental laboratory. This facility allows us to fabricate crowns, bridges, and other dental prosthetics on-site.

Having our laboratory in the same building provides several benefits: - Faster turnaround times for your restorations - Better quality control throughout the fabrication process - The ability to make adjustments quickly if needed - Direct communication between our dentists and lab technicians - More predictable scheduling for your appointments

The Restoration Process

The specific steps involved in your restoration depend on which procedure you need. However, the general process follows a similar pattern:

Initial Consultation and Examination We begin with a thorough examination of your teeth and gums. Digital X-rays help us assess the extent of damage or decay. We then discuss your treatment options, explaining the pros and cons of each approach.

Treatment Planning Based on our findings, we develop a personalized treatment plan. We’ll explain what the procedure involves, how many appointments will be needed, and what you can expect during recovery.

The Restoration Procedure Treatment may require one or more appointments depending on the complexity of your case. We ensure your comfort throughout the procedure using appropriate anesthesia.

Follow-Up Care After your restoration is complete, we provide instructions for caring for your newly restored teeth. We may schedule follow-up appointments to check that everything is healing properly and functioning as expected.

Materials We Use

We use high-quality materials for all our dental restorations, All our materials are biocompatible and meet stringent quality standards. We select materials based on the location of the restoration, the amount of stress it will endure, and your personal preferences.

When to Seek Dental Restoration

You may need dental restoration services if you experience:

  • Tooth pain or sensitivity
  • Visible cavities or dark spots on teeth
  • Broken, cracked, or chipped teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Difficulty chewing
  • Previous dental work that has failed or become damaged

Don’t wait until dental problems become severe. Early intervention with appropriate restorations can prevent more extensive and costly treatments later.
