Laser Dentistry at Oakview Dental Group
Advanced Dental Technology in Oakville
Oakview Dental Group offers cutting-edge laser dentistry services using the Siro Laser Blue system. This advanced technology has revolutionized dental treatments, making procedures faster, less invasive, and more comfortable for our patients.
What Is Laser Dentistry?
Laser dentistry uses focused light energy to perform various dental procedures with improved precision and reduced discomfort. The technology has progressed significantly in recent years, offering patients a modern alternative to traditional dental instruments. Lasers can precisely target specific tissues while minimizing bleeding, swelling, and post-operative discomfort.
Our Laser Dentistry Services
Laser Treatment for TMJ
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders cause pain, discomfort, and limited jaw movement. Our laser treatment for TMJ offers a non-invasive alternative to traditional approaches like medication, physical therapy, or surgery.
The procedure uses focused light energy to reduce inflammation and promote healing in the jaw joint. Treatment is quick and performed in-office with minimal discomfort. The laser penetrates deep into the tissues, increasing blood circulation and reducing muscle tension.
Each treatment session typically lasts 10-20 minutes, and most patients notice improvement after several sessions. The therapy is painless, requires no anesthesia, and allows patients to return to normal activities immediately.
LBR Periodontists (Laser Bacterial Reduction)
Laser Bacterial Reduction (LBR) is an innovative periodontal treatment that eliminates harmful bacteria from the gums and periodontal pockets. This preventive therapy takes just 5-10 minutes and can be performed at the beginning of a regular cleaning appointment.
The laser’s antimicrobial properties destroy disease-causing bacteria without harming healthy tissue. This treatment helps prevent gum disease, reduces bleeding during cleanings, and promotes healthier gums. LBR is particularly beneficial for patients with gingivitis, those with a history of gum disease, or anyone seeking to maintain optimal oral health.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRF) for Regenerative Dentistry
PRF therapy has gained popularity in both the dental and aesthetic communities. At Oakview Dental Group, we use PRF to enhance healing and improve outcomes in various dental procedures.
PRF is obtained through a double spin method. The first hard spin separates red blood cells, while a soft spin concentrates platelets and white blood cells. This concentration of your body’s natural healing factors accelerates tissue regeneration and bone growth.
We use PRF therapy in conjunction with: - Dental implant placement - Bone grafting procedures - Tooth extractions - Periodontal surgery - Sinus lift procedures
The treatment dramatically reduces healing time, minimizes post-operative discomfort, and improves long-term treatment success. Because PRF comes from your own blood, there’s no risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy removes or releases a frenulum—the small tissue that connects the lip or tongue to the gums. When this tissue is too short or tight, it can cause difficulties with speaking, eating, or breastfeeding in infants.
Our laser frenectomy procedure is quick, typically taking only 5-15 minutes. The laser precisely removes the affected tissue with minimal bleeding and no sutures required. For infants with tongue-tie, the procedure often requires no anesthesia beyond a topical gel. Children and adults receive local anesthesia for comfort.
Recovery is fast, usually 3-7 days, with minimal discomfort. The procedure provides immediate improvement in tongue or lip mobility. For infants with tongue-tie affecting breastfeeding, improvement is often noticeable at the next feeding.
